Nestled along the Adriatic coast, Croatia is a postcard-perfect gem, home to over 700 islands, islets and reefs. With historic terracotta tiled villages, ancient walled cities and bustling, metropolitan marinas, this thriving country has grown from strength to strength in recent years.

Croatia is home to around 4.2 million people and bordered by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia; it also shares a maritime border with Italy. Its capital, Zagreb, is a creative, cosmopolitan hub while Dubrovnik at its southern tip is a UNESCO listed fort town; it is often referred to as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'.

The country's many islands are festival hotspots from May to October, while the quaint harbours along the coast attract the well-heeled yachting set. Highlights are the port town of Split, with its Diocletian's Palace and the party island of Hvar that attracts a fun backpacker crowd.
