Land of 6000 islands, Greece is one of the Mediterranean’s most idyllic countries. Often referred to as the birthplace of democracy, this ancient land is dotted with blue and white stonewashed buildings, scattered with colossal ruins and surrounded by azure sea.

The capital, Athens, is home to UNESCO listed sites including the Acropolis (citadel) and the historic columned Parthenon. Home to around 11 million people, Greece stretches from the tip of Eastern Europe down to the Libyan sea. It borders Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Famed for its pressed olive oil, tangy feta cheese and fresh, tomato based salads, the Greek table lends itself well to lazy afternoons spent in a beachfront taverna. Come summer, the many islands fill up with visitors who journey to enjoy the beach parties, spectacular sunsets and relaxed pace of life.
