Chocoholics, welcome to paradise. Your waistline may not forgive us but Easter Weekend at Bruges' Chocolate Museum is the best place to sample Belgium's most famous export and watch how the sweet stuff gets made.
The picturesque medieval city of Bruges in Belgium has plenty of charm and character; it's also home to one of Belgium's most popular chocolate exhibitions, Choco-Story. Housed in the heart of the old town, this mecca for chocolate-lovers tells the fascinating history of chocolate production; from the ancient Mayan empire to the evolution of the chocolate bar in the 19th century. You'll also get a chance to watch staff build mouth-watering chocolate creations in the onsite kitchen (yes, sampling is allowed).
Although the museum is open all year, the best time to visit is Easter Weekend, when you'll enjoy special tastings and seasonally themed treats. If you're travelling in a group of eight or more consider booking one of the bespoke praline making workshops - you'll get first hand experience of making and moulding chocolate plus the chance to take your creations home.
Another favourite is the chocolate-sculpture making class (prepare to get messy, although aprons are provided). Alternatively, celebrate Easter in style with the truffle making workshop that includes a glass of Fresita sparkling wine. Understandably the classes are busy around this time of year, so plan your Easter Weekend at Bruges Chocolate Museum early to make sure you get your chocolate fix.
A sweet treat that's worth sacrificing your midriff for.
