The roving festival circuit makes its way round to Toronto in time for Autumn, when the days are hot and the nights are cool.
- When? 1st - 4th September 2017
- Where? Woodbine Park, Toronto
- Price: donation to Epilepsy Toronto at the main entrance.
While most of us can't help but love the likes of busker-come-stars like Ed Sheeran, the art of busking is something not everyone appreciates. Yet, whether you're an Ed Sheeran in the making or better off keeping your tone-deaf skills at home in the bathroom (when no-one else is listening), if there's one thing we're sure of - Buskerfest knows how to put on a party.
Every bodily feat man is capable of can be found somewhere in Woodbine Park come September. Fire breathers, contortionists, mimes, magicians, musicians, acrobats, daredevils and human statues create a circus extravaganza.
Founded in 1999 by Epilepsy Toronto, this vibrant festival is committed to improving the lives of people who suffer from the world's most common neurological disorder. After loosing its biggest sponsor Scotiabank, Buskerfest has started afresh at Woodbine Park which offers views of the waterfront and plenty of green space to spread out. There is also a licensed beer garden.
Cast your vote for the best performance of the weekend and photographers enter your best shots into the online competition. Performers are not paid by an organisation and collect from a hat at the end of their show.
Whether you're inclined to start a performance of your own, or simply marvel at the ingenious acts that descend on Toronto at this lively time of year, we're sure you'll have a blast at Buskerfest. Maybe you'll spot a new ginger haired chap destined for stardom.
- Get there: Use Streetcars to get around if you aren't close enough to walk.
- Stay: Find a hotel in Old Toronto so you can walk along the festival but are still close to other sightseeing favourites.
