Looking for some festive cheer? Winterfest is the perfect place to get into the seasonal swing of things if you're visiting Hong Kong this December.

- Where? Statue Square, Hong Kong, China.
- Price: Admission is free
Santa might have to leave his big red coat behind when he visits Hong Kong's Winterfest - it may be the festive season but it's also usually around 20 degrees Celsius. Not that it stops Hong Kongers getting into the festive spirit however; this dazzling event is bursting with seasonal merriment and fun.
Along the waterfront, buildings are lit up with Christmas lights while shop windows are decked out with traditional Christmas scenes. It's around Statue Square however that you'll find the main attractions. A huge tree (previous years have seen 30 foot ones made out of Swarovski crystals) acts as the main meeting point while surrounding stalls sell everything from decorations to mulled wine. Funfair rides add a carnival feel as do the light installations and photobooths. If you stick around until New Year then you're in for a treat too - the fest culminates in a huge countdown to celebrate.
Winterfest is the perfect way to give you that warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling (even if it's as warm as the height of British summer). After getting your festive fix wander along the surrounding streets for a seasonal meal (many Western restaurants have Christmas menus).
Remember to keep an eye out for Santa (although he might have ditched the coat).
