Watch the sky explode during Shanghai's International Music and Fireworks Festival, where crowds of thousands gather in the beautiful Century Park.
Music meets fireworks at the Shanghai International Music Fireworks Festival in a marriage which works better than the most beautiful of romances - like when a young David Beckham wed the posh one from The Spice Girls. This hypnotising art show is a picture of true beauty.
First hosted in 2000, the annual fireworks extravaganza has become wildly popular and there are plenty of activity tents, food stalls and performances to accompany the main show. A panel of 'firework experts' made up of musicians and writers help to pick the winning routine at the largest park in the city.
Century Park serves as an ideal venue for the event, taking influences in its appearance from English, Japanese and Chinese lawns and gardens. The park surrounds a lake and mini islands which offer a unique view of the spectacle. The closing ceremony on October 6th is the pinnacle of the entire show, so this is the day to attend if you plan on visiting.
In previous years, around 50,000 people have turned up to watch each show. You'll need to buy a ticket to attend, with standing tickets costing just under £10. Or you could get a seating ticket for a little over triple that and 'spend it like Beckham'.
