Dance, party and rave all week long at the city-wide Strøm Electronic Music Festival in Copenhagen.
- When? 2nd - 5th August 2017
- Where? Copenhagen, Denmark
- Price: TBC
If a weekend in a muddy field avoiding dubious toilet facilities isn't your idea of fun, fear not - Strøm Electronic Music Festival has got it covered.
With over 60 venues to choose from, this city-wide seven-day event is one of the biggest and best in Denmark. The festival has plenty going on; from indoor gigs and outdoor raves to DJ masterclasses and Danish lager stalls. Rather than camp, festival-goers descend on the city's hostels and hotels using bikes or public transport to hop between venues. The result? Copenhagen turns into a week-long party capital.
This year, Strøm Electronic Music Festival will be welcoming electronic artists from Denmark, Europe and beyond. The lineup is still top secret but previous acts have included Robert Hood, Robin and Flying Lotus. The festival's finale is a blow-out two-day event in the Enghaveparken, one of the city's best-loved green spaces.
The length of the festival also means that you can devote a bit of time to exploring the city. Many central bars and restaurants have festival deals and drinks promotions (plenty of venues are also B.Y.O.B.). Alternatively squeeze in a culture fix at Rosenborg Castle or visit one of the many quirky shops in the hip Vesterbro district.
A week's worth of parties and a chance to explore one of Scandinavia's most beautiful cities makes Strøm Electronic Music Festival one for our bucket list. And after a night spent raving, what could feel more luxurious than heading back to your hostel for a power nap - in an actual bed. Without a welly or portaloo in sight.
- Get there: Fly into Copenhagen then use public transport to get around the city.
- Stay: Book accommodation in the city centre so you'll easily be able to travel between venues.
