Helsinki Flow Festival

11 - 13 Aug 2017
Helsinki, Finland

Flow Festival (known by many simply as ‘Flow’), is an urban music and arts festival in Helsinki that takes place at a defunct power plant in the downtown area of the city.

From indie rock to jazz, world music to the freshest club sounds – Flow Festival really does have it all. The event makes a point of promoting Finnish artists, but there is also a huge amount of shows led by international musicians too. It’s hugely popular, both in Finland and across the globe.

But don’t just take our word for it. In 2013, Flow Festival was nominated as the "Best Medium-Sized Festival" at the European Festivals Awards. It was also awarded the coveted “Music & Media Finland Best Festival” accolade four times in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.

And while the focus is music, there’s a whole host of other things going on across the event. Visual art exhibitions, film screenings, talks, food and drink innovation; you name it, there’ll be events dedicated to it at Flow Festival.

It’s also a festival that is creative in its use of space. The event takes place at a defunct Suvilahti power plant and its industrial surroundings in downtown Helsinki. Whilst this may not sound that enticing, the location is atmospheric and a memorable site to hold such a unique event.

Notable artist appearances at Flow Festival over the years have included artists such as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Kanye West, Lily Allen, The Roots, The Black Keys, Beach House, Kraftwerk, Björk, M.I.A., Bon Iver, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar, Public Enemy, Cat Power, The National, Outkast, Action Bronson, Manic Street Preachers, Vampire Weekend, Iron & Wine, My Bloody Valentine and Lykke Li.

We think you’ll agree that this special festival has something for everyone.
