A fun festival which gives attendees the chance to sample two of Hungary’s biggest delicacies: palinka and sausage.
When you get there, you’ll be overwhelmed by the sheer number of stalls offering a wide variety of sausage. Like the Germans, Hungarians take their sausage very, very seriously. Sausage and pálinka go well together, so be sure to visit a few stands and sample some Gyulai or Csabai kolbász.
You can then wash it down with a few shots of Palinka, Hungary’s famous fruit brandy. Be careful though, too much and you won’t know whether you’re coming or going.
This is a major gastronomic event taking place in Castle Hill, one of the most picturesque spots in Budapest. Visit the official website to keep up to date with event info.
- Get there: Fly into Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport and use the metro to get around the city.
