Feasting, drinking and music pretty much sum up our idea of a perfect weekend; all you need is a historic city setting and you'll find the Gourmet Festival in Budapest ticks all the boxes. From fiery bratwurst stalls to trendy wine bars, this outdoor food festival in Millenáris Park is perfect for food loving socialisers. Just put the diet on hold, okay?
Tickets for this four day event include plenty of freebies; you'll take home a Spiegelau wine glass, enjoy finger food by Electrolux and sample several tipples, including Garamvári Brut sparkling wine. The stalls are surrounded by plenty of picnic tables, perfect for groups and friends, while music is provided on the event's main stage. If you're looking for a more substantial meal, then you can purchase food using a cashless Festipay card, available at the festival.
After gorging on Hungarian goulash, local artisan cheeses and Budapest cured meats, you might struggle with dessert - but trust us, it's worth it. Several stalls serve bespoke chocolates and handmade puddings - but hey, you didn't come to Budapest to diet, did you? After, walk off the treats with a stroll around the old town or up to Buda Castle. You'll feel virtuous in no time.
