Every year the LGBT community brings a splash of colour to O'Connell Street when Dublin Pride Parade hits town.
Every year Dublin's LGBT community brings colour and vibrancy to the city when the Pride Parade hits town. The streets are awash with colour: rainbow flags, glitter, sequins, feather boas and thousands of people dancing and shimmying to disco music.
While the parade is undoubtedly the highlight of Dublin Pride, there's a lot more going on. Dublin Pride initially began as a one-day celebration in 1983 but has since bloomed into an annual 10-day festival celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life and culture in the city and featuring a host of arts, social and cultural events.
The positive outcome of Ireland's 2015 referendum to legalise gay marriage has only added to the festivities, resulting in one of the biggest celebrations the city had seen. Whether you're gay, straight, bi or trans - come down for a week long extravaganza of camp fun and entertainment.
