Get your glad rags on (or off if you like your celebrations a little more... er, risqué) and get ready for six days of partying in the Mexican capital. Let's hope you can handle it.
Millions of people from all walks of life descend on the streets of Mexico City every year in celebration of the gay community. Children through to senior citizens attend the events which range from the parade to live music performances. Handmade signs can often be seen throughout the parade displaying pro-gay and pro-love messages, so make your own if you really want the full experience.
#travioortip: Anything goes when it comes to crazy costumes - don your favourite rainbow costume, a fancy headdress or go all-out with body paint.
Join the Gay Pride March (Marcha del Orgullo) which usually takes place at noon on the last Saturday of the month and follow excited revellers from the Angel de la Independencia to the Zócalo - Mexico City's main square. The route winds through the Paseo de Reforma as throngs of scantily-clad celebrators sing, dance and party with an all-out festival vibe.
It has been claimed that Mexico City has the largest, wildest and most fun gay pride event in Latin America. We'll let you decide that one for yourself.
- Get there: The Angel de la Indepencia is close to the centre of town and is well-connected by local buses. If you're heading straight to Zócalo, there's an underground station nearby.
- Stay: The Zona Rosa is near to the festivities, though can be loud at night.
*We do our very best to verify the dates of our events but please check with the official event provider before booking your flights. We would hate for you to be disappointed!
