Boracay isn't all partying and sunbathing. Every year extreme sportsmen and women assemble to ride the trade winds.

- Price: Free for spectators, around 5,000 pesos for those wanting to enter.
Holidaying is known to bring out the sense of adventure in people. Skydiving in Australia? Bungy-jumping in NZ? Or maybe you'd like to take to the waters and try your hand at wind-surfing? Lets hope you have good balance.
The weather conditions in Boracay from November to April make it well-suited to windsurfing as the steady northeast winds of the monsoon create a controllable wind force. Cue the International Windsurfing and Kite Boarding Funboard Cup.
The competition brings wind and kite-surfing pro's from around the world to the beautiful Bulabog beach to compete against one another in a series of events including slalom races, speed trials and freestyle events.
Starting at 7 a.m., this competition isn't for those that like their sleep, but entrance is free for spectators who pitch up along the sand. Kite-surfers and windsurfers get very competitive in the hang-time events (how long surfers can hang in the air before touching the water again) and the slalom races and are judged on their fluidity, variety, speed, height gained and innovation.
For the amateurs there are several windsurfing and kite-surfing schools and reef protected lagoons that are ideal for beginners to test their skills on the shallow waters and flat seabeds before venturing out into the big, wide ocean.
By the time the competitions are over, Boracay island is ready to throw one of its trademark parties which are judged on attendance, quality of music and enthusiasm of dance.
Have your best dance moves at the ready - even that can be a bit of an adventure.
