Head for Poland's second largest city to experience Krakow Photomonth Festival, regarded as one of the best photography events in Europe.
Forget browsing Instagram portfolios full of pouting selfies, home-cooked meals and annoying pets; the quality of snaps go up a notch at the Krakow Photomonth Festival. If you're obsessed with pictures, this month-long event is packed with dozens of exhibitions and displays of world-class photography.
Running since 2002, the Krakow Photomonth Festival has fast become one of Europe's major photography events with fantastic exhibitions from up-and-coming Polish talent and top photographers around the world. Public spaces such as pubs, clubs, restaurants and random odd spots that include an old brewery are used throughout the festival to show pictures in an innovative way. Each year has a new theme such as conflict or fashion (seen in previous years) which is present throughout.
For those who wish to take a break from visiting the various exhibitions, the organisations behind the month-long event provide a number of workshops, screenings and lectures. However, one of the most interesting aspects of the Photomonth Festival is the ShowOFF Section which sees a jury carefully select eight projects from hundreds of budding applicants eager to display their work.
If you think you or your friend's Instagram portfolio needs a little inspiration, a visit to the Krakow Photomonth Festival may prove to be a picture-perfect weekend.
