Every year in May for one night only, Krakow's finest museums remain open until late into the night (around 2am), hosting special events in a bid to attract a record number of visitors.
The Night of Museums, as it is referred to, sees the majority of the city's galleries operating past their usual hours, with well-known participants including the Museum of Aviation, The Historical Museum of Krakow, The National Museum and The Archidiocesan Museum.
Back in 1997, Berlin became the first region to adopt the idea of Museum Nights, with Krakow following Germany's lead in 2004. There are now over 78 different cities and towns in Poland that take part in the event.
Those hoping to visit more than one of these venues are in luck, as on the Night of Museums one ticket will guarantee entrance to a number of different locations.
- Get there: Use local buses and trams to navigate the city if it's too far to walk.
- Stay: Find a hotel in the city centre so you're close to the museums.
*We do our very best to verify the dates of our events but please check with the official event provider before booking your flights. We would hate for you to be disappointed!
