Nit de Foc

23 Jun 2017
Parc de la Mar, Mallorca, Spain

Prepare yourself for some devilish insanity as Palma runs riot with fire runs, fireworks, bonfires and street parties.

Held on the night before the feast of St John, the Nit de Foc is without doubt the biggest and craziest night on the calendar. A celebration that includes street parties, bonfires fireworks, concerts and the infamous ‘correfoc’ or ‘fire run’.

The fun begins in the Parc de la Mar and involves a large group of people dressed as demons armed with fireworks and other pyrotechnic gear who then proceed to chase you through the streets. Nit de Foc would contravene just about every health and safety law in most European countries but not Spain supposedly.

This event is without doubt not for the faint hearted or unfit! If you want something a bit calmer there’s also a dance in the Parc de la Mar by the Cathedral so you can have a drink and bust out the robot.

  • Get there: To reach the city centre from Palma de Mallorca Airport use the bus or the metro.
  • Stay: Find a hotel in Saint Nicolau to be close the event venue and have access to a number of local attractions and restaurants.
