Two parties are always better than one and nowhere is this truer than sunny Palma de Mallorca. Each year, Mallorcans celebrate the beginning of Lent with the rambunctious Sa Rua Carnival, comprising of fiestas, parades and street parties.
The festivities are actually two carnivals: Sa Rua and Sa Rueta. The former is considered an event for adults, with the latter a children's carnival and parade which typically takes place on a Saturday. At Sa Rua, there are prizes for the best costumes as well as a procession that marches down Avenida Jaime III onto the Passeig del Born, Placa Joan Carles and Carrer Unio.
While most of Mallorca's towns have their own carnivals, Palma undoubtedly hosts the largest party on the island - or should that be parties plural?
