Well known as one of Spain's biggest and most exciting traditional festivals, Fallas de Valencia arrives in March and sees large puppets known as Ninots parading through the city accompanied by music.
As Fallas de Valencia draws to a close, the large figures are set on fire, lighting up the streets in the process.
The Fallas are said to 'criticize almost everything' with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, which guarantees a fun atmosphere with plenty to stop and stare at. Fallas de Valencia serves as a platform for locals to express thoughts towards national and international subjects.
Hundreds of full-scale fallas are mounted throughout Valencia and during the festival Valencian women are often seen wearing their best traditional clothes.
