B Scene Festival is a multi-venue, multi-genre weekender that's perfect for music loving reveller.
Choosing gig tickets is a bit like choosing pick 'n' mix. Sometimes, you just want a bit of everything. Luckily, B Scene Festival in Basel has it covered, with venues ranging from small intimate spots to huge rave-tastic clubs and the multi-genre lineup should keep indecisive types happy.
The two-day festival is now a firm fixture on Switzerland's cultural calendar, attracting thousands of revellers to Basel each year. Showcasing a staggering range of music - including reggae, electro, indie, trance and rock - this full-on weekender has something for even the most discerning of musical palates.
B Scene Festival is spread across several different venues throughout the city, including Barracks, Bird's Eye, Sud and Dome. Headline acts this year include some top international and European artists. One of the festival's selling points is its multi-venue access; one ticket grants you entry to all the shows, so you can mix and match which artists you see.
Since it started in 1996, B Scene Festival has grown in size and popularity - today it attracts a young, studenty crowd. Like many European clubs, things don't really get going until past midnight (the headline act on Saturday begins at 3.45am - you may want to stock up on the Pro-Plus). The variety of venue choices offers some respite though; opt for an intimate gig at converted Barracks, which has several smaller rooms for chill-out sets if you need to recoup. After you've perked up, head to a packed out party at Sud where you can dance into the small hours.
Our advice? If you want to be seen at B Scene (sorry, we couldn't resist), then get your tickets quick. Like a bag of sweets - they're unlikely to last long.
- Get there: EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg is the closest airport. Use the tram and bus to get around.
- Stay: Find a hotel in the city centre so you can walk to the venues.
