The ultimate event for posh ski bunnies, Chamonix Ski Week is one of the highlights of the snow season's calendar. Don your Prada sunnies and dust of the Versace ski suit - this January extravaganza (just an hour's drive from Geneva) isn't one to miss.
Ski Week is hosted in several different resorts around the globe - including Aspen in the US and Niseko in Japan. All draw in the world's skiing elite although Chamonix - one of Europe's most exclusive ski destinations - is arguably one of the swankiest. The week offers a host of different events including the Pond Skim, Parade of Nations, Slalom Challenge and plenty of chances to go off-piste. If you go with the whole gang then the event organizes apartments for you to share.
After you've spent the day exploring the slopes (the apex of Chamonix is 3842 metres) it's time to hit the legendary après-ski scene. Whether you're a seasoned skiier or a blundering beginner, après-ski is something everyone can get on board with. If you're looking for a quieter night, head to the festival's Jacuzzi area or indulge in spot of mountainside dining. These ski bunnies definitely go by the work hard, play hard mantra, so don't forget the painkillers and pro plus.
- Get there: Fly to Geneva and then drive to Chamonix. Try and find a shuttle deal to help you get there cheaply.
- Stay: Book accommodation in Chamonix, as close to the slopes as possible so you won't have far to walk in those clunky ski boots.
