The five-day Paléo Festival is the biggest music event in Switzerland with over 280,000 visitors enjoying its al fresco Rock 'n' Roll.
- When? 18th - 23rd July 2017
- Where? Nyon, Switzerland
- Price: TBC
Bring your pal(éo)s to Nyon for six days of music and merryment in Switzerland.
Paléo is Switzerland's answer to Glastonbury, and much like its British counterpart, Paléo attracts A-list acts, but this festival is a little more sedate and comfortable than you may expect. You can view the main stage seated high up in a grandstand, while all the food stalls have tables, chairs and condiments to allow you to eat in comfort.
Those who visit today would struggle to imagine the event over 40 years ago - Paléo started as a folk festival back in 1976 and now welcomes over 280,000 visitors each year, making it one of the biggest music events in Europe. The festival has attracted some massive headliners including Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Neil Young, The Who, R.E.M. and the Pixies throughout its long life, and is certainly not showing any signs of ageing.
Like many open-air festivals it is possible to camp at Paléo, though the more civilised among us may prefer to travel from Geneva. You certainly won't have a hard time convincing us to attend Paléo Music Festival this year; a history of amazing lineups and you can eat your sausage and chips sitting down with a knife and fork. What more could you want?
- Get there: Nyon is a 15 minute train journey from Geneva, or a half hour drive.
- Stay: Take advantage of the on-site camping if you want the full festival experience, or book accommodation in Geneva and travel each day.
