Running for over 20 years, the West End Festival is Glasgow’s largest cultural event with a host of amazing shows to enjoy over 3 fun-filled weeks in June.
We'll forgive you for thinking the 'West End' festival entails singing, dancing and performing in London's famous hot-spots - Glaswegians may not have the same reaction. Taking place in Glasgow's West End, 'West End' festival is the city's biggest cultural fest with almost a month of events to enjoy.
The festival programme caters for all tastes, including events, exhibitions, performances, talks, tours, workshops and screenings – most of which won’t cost you a penny! The party spreads all over the city, popping up through hundreds of activities across some of Glasgow’s best venues. Not to mention the awesome parade that rumbles its way through town, from the Botanic Gardens all the way to Kelvingrove Park.
Local and indie icons are usually present in what is an eclectic and packed roster. And this local thread runs throughout the entire festival, mixing perfectly alongside a bounty of international talent from a broad range of crafts and disciplines.
With over one million visitors turning out last year, the West End Festival has established itself as a mainstay on the European events calendar and as a favourite for locals and visitors alike.
Just don't expect to see sequins and jazz hands - you're in the wrong postcode.
