Step forward Manchester Food and Drink Festival. One of the best things about the end of the summer season is no more dieting and no more salads. With the weather getting colder and the beach body in hibernation, many will be looking forward to tucking into some tasty treats at this mouth-watering annual event.
Running since 1998, this festival was first set up to change the perceptions people had about the city's food. Today it is a hugely popular urban event making an appearance in many different locations throughout the city across two weeks. Various districts within Greater Manchester host a fantastic programme of events but Albert Square will be the 'Festival Hub' with its pop-up village proving a honeypot for foodies; expect a street food fair, tasting sessions and cooking workshops as well as numerous bars, live entertainment and a producer market.
High quality and a great atmosphere should be expected given the likes of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay have been involved in previous years. You can't argue that the Manchester Food and Drink Festival sounds a lot better than the gym. Although your waistline may disagree.
