If you're staying in the cool, urban district of Clarendon in Arlington then you'll soon realise that this is the cultural centre of the county. Its trendy bars and busy markets make it a haven for arty people who want to feel inspired and creative, especially now they have a platform to show off their work at the annual arts festival.
Now in it's fifth year, Arlington Festival of the Arts brings together artists and crafters from around the local area, giving them the opportunity to showcase and sell their work. Artists are encouraged to chat to visitors about the process and inspiration behind their work, having been hand-picked by a panel of expert judges to participate in the event.
If you enjoy getting lost in a maze of fascinating paintings, handmade jewellery, quirky textiles and one-of-a-kind photography then you need to visit the art festival when it comes to Arlington next year.
Admission is free but bring some cash as you won't want to leave empty-handed when you see what is on offer. With everything from necklaces worth $20 to paintings worth $30,000 plus, the arts festival caters to every visitor.
There is also a food festival running alongside the artist's tents so you'll be able to refuel after all that shopping.
Go explore and appreciate the creativity and hard work of local artists; you might finally find that piece to fill the gap above the mantelpiece.
