Take a leaf out of our book and visit the Louisiana Book Festival this October.
Ever queued for hours in the lead-up to midnight for the next instalment of your favourite book series? Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Go Set a Watchman? Twilight Breaking Dawn?
All book-lovers get a little crazy when the newest release comes out. If you're in Baton Rouge this October then you need to get your crazy-self over to the Louisiana Book Festival.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in various locations near the State Library of Louisiana, this day-long festival gives book lovers the chance to meet their favourite writers whilst enjoying literary activities, exhibitions and presentations. Whatever your preferred genre, there will be something on offer for every book lover.
Past activities have included 'One Book, One Festival', an event where attendees all read the same book before the festival and then came together to discuss it. They also held a WordShop, bringing people together to encourage them to write and be creative in their passions.
Food and music make the celebration, with stalls along Spanish Town Road offering a variety of local food and drink, and a stage representing music from a whole host of different genres. Cooking demonstrations make up a surprising part of the festival, alongside a market selling books and other literary items.
With over 150 authors in attendance and a whole host of guests looking for a literary party, this one's bound to be a turn-up for the books.
Just don't turn up at midnight or you'll be in for a long wait.
