5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Chicago Air and Water Show is go. This annual event attracts thousands to the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with the majority heading to North Avenue Beach to watch a fantastic spectacle in the air and on water.
The Chicago Air and Water Show has been running since 1959 when it was then known as the Lakeshore Park Air & Water Show. However, it was the following year that it gained popularity, with the presence of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and Golden Knights Parachute Team pulling in a huge crowd. The show has got bigger and better every year since with around two million people attending the event.
Every year, daredevil stunts, military aircrafts and parachuters create a fascinating spectacle in the air while an equally impressive show is put on in the water. Headliners in the past have included the likes of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs.
Just be sure to make the most of it; time flies when you're having fun.
