Shall we compare thee to a summer's day? Featuring live performances in a beautiful location, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival sees actors from all over the country perform on its stage to huge crowds full of both local and international visitors.
The festival prides itself on showing Shakespeare's plays the way they were meant to be performed - with an outdoor stage providing the perfect setting under the stars. In recent years, the festival has seen performances of Romeo and Juliet, The Comedy of Errors and A Midsummer Night's Dream. The performance for 2017 hasn't been announced yet but we can't wait to see what's in store.
Expect a multi-event showcase series every Monday night, with a diverse selection of live music and entertainment covering many different genres. With a different performance each week, we wouldn't blame you for coming back more than once.
Shakespeare's kitchen will be serving up a variety of dishes for every palette, but guests are able to bring their own food for a tasty picnic.
With over a month of Shakespearean fun, is your visit to the Shakespeare Festival to be, or not to be: that is the question.
- Get there: The drive from South Lake Tahoe is about 35 minutes, and from Reno is around an hour.
- Stay: Book accommodation in Carson City or South Lake Tahoe for the easiest drive to the festival.
