Everyone loves spring right? Lambs gamboling, flowers budding and the tantalizing hint that summer might finally be on its way. If you're a fan of all things springlike then get yourself to Martha's Vineyard in May for Edgartown's annual Pink and Green Weekend, a celebration that marks the coming of the new season. It also celebrates Mother's Day so if you happen to be there with your Ma, take her along too.
Spread across several Edgartown venues, the weekender sees dozens of restaurants and shops taking part, with special deals and discounts plus mother's day themed boozy brunches. In the evening there's also an annual pub crawl (if you didn't hit the lunchtime cocktails too hard). Alongside the town centre festivities there's also a charity race and previous years have seen museums offer free admission to anyone wearing pink and green.
If you're like an excitable bunny when it comes to the arrival of spring - or you just want to treat the Mothership - then Edgartown in May is a great place to be. Accommodation books up quickly (this is a pretty small town) so if you're planning on visiting you'll need to reserve in advance. You don't want to be the one that screws up Mother's Day... oh the guilt.
- Get there: Fly or take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. It's a short drive or taxi ride to Edgartown.
- Stay: Book accommodation in Edgartown if possible, or try Chappaquiddick Island.
