There are a few things that go hand in hand; coffee and cake, sunsets and friends and, one of our favourites, beer and tropical islands. If the latter is your favourite then Maui's Brewer's Festival needs to be firmly in your diary. Held on Hawaii's Maui Island, this beer-lovers event just so happens to be set in paradise. It's a tough life.
As well as a few international brews and brands, they'll also be plenty of home grown breweries showcasing their latest offerings and sharing advice on when to drink and how to taste. If that wasn't good enough, there's also free food (always a winner in our opinion), live music, hula performances and prize giveaways. Held between 3.30pm and 7pm on a Saturday, the event is perfectly timed so you can spend the morning on the beach before heading to Kahului on the east coast for some beer-based afternoon tipples.
There are standard and VIP passes available, which go on sale around mid-March. VIP tickets will get you in earlier and also allows you exclusive access to a few rare beers that won't be on offer to the general ticket holders. Both passes get you a commemorative beer glass but only the VIP pass includes a beer lanyard and festival t-shirt. So if you don't want to miss out on this match-made in boozy holiday heaven take note - tickets are likely to go faster than a pint on a hot summer's day.
- Get there: Kahului Airport is a 15 minute drive from the Arts Centre and 10 minutes from central Kahului.
- Stay: Book accommodation in Kahului for a short trip to the venue.
