San Francisco Pride

24 - 25 Jun 2017
Civic Center, San Francisco, CA, United States

This annual celebration of equality puts San Francisco in a party mood with festivities scheduled across the city.

With more technicolor hues than a West End fancy dress box, the annual San Francisco Pride Parade is over 45 years old and still going strong. The event attracts crowds of thousands, who come together to celebrate equality, with celebrations spread across a number of 'main' stages and 'community' stages.

With such widespread support the atmosphere is always overwhelmingly positive and inspiring, paticularly when the pride parade marches its way along San Francisco's Market Street to tunes and cheers. The parade starts at the foot of the historic City Hall, in the same spot where American politician Harvey Milk stood and spoke to Pride-goers over thirty years ago. Previous years have seen recognisable names perform for the masses, including the likes of Mike Munich, Steve Grand, Lady Bunny and Siya. Lady Gaga has also been known to make guest appearances in the past and previous themes have included, 'In Pride We Trust', 'Global Equality' and 'Color Our World With Pride'.

Whilst there's no set ticket prices, visitors are encouraged to donate $5-10 to provide 'crucial support' to the community event - discounts on drinks are on offer for those that donate. So if you're looking for some multi-coloured fun (all for a good cause) we know where you should be this June. See you there!

  • Get there: Fly into San Francisco International Airport then take a shuttle bus/taxi to the city.
  • Stay: Find a hotel close to the Civic Centre Plaza to be close to the main event or stay in Castro, San Francisco's lively LGBT neighbourhood.
