San Francisco prepares for a night full of very merry Santas in this annual night of costumed frivolity known as SantaCon.
- When? TBC December 2017
- Where? San Francisco
- Price: free, you'll just need money for a costume to dress up if you haven't already got a Santa suit.
If you see hundreds of Santas running through San Francisco, don't worry, you haven't been hitting the festive spirit(s) too hard. Instead, you're witnessing SantaCon, one of the globe's biggest Santa dress up events, held in the city every year. And if you always wondered what it feels like to be the most Christmasy of people, now's your chance to dress up and get involved...
First held in 1994, SantaCon has become an annual event where crowds come together dressed as the world's favourite jolly man and celebrate the end of the year. According to the event website, SantaCon is only 'sometimes' family friendly, which is pretty telling of the atmosphere on offer. Sometimes referred to as the 'Santa Crawl', this festive event is the perfect night out for groups looking to explore the city's top drinking spots whilst looking pretty silly at the same time. Hardly surprisingly, this event has a fifty-fifty chance of turning pretty messy, as the Santas make seasonal stops at the various pubs and bars along the way.
So if you're looking for some festive frolics and feel like dressing up as the big man himself then get yourself to San Francisco this December - you're guaranteed some seasonal cheer.
- Get there: Fly into San Francisco International Airport then take a shuttle bus/taxi to the city.
- Stay: Find a hotel downtown so you can reach the other neighbourhoods easily.
*We do our very best to verify the dates of our events but please check with the official event provider before booking your flights. We would hate for you to be disappointed!
