If you've awoke to the smell of bacon after a heavy night out in Tucson, you might be in luck. The Arizona Bacon Fest comes once a year and you definitely won't want to miss it.
- When? TBC 2017
- Where? Tucson, Arizona
- Price: TBC, 2016's prices were $40 with $5 parking.
You might think you've died and gone to bacon heaven at the Arizona Bacon Fest in the city of Tucson. The foodie favourite of bacon, which has been hailed as a hangover cure by men and women for decades, is now demanding its very own festival and we can't say we're complaining.
Those of us who love nothing more than a bacon sarnie in the morning are going to love the Arizona Bacon Fest. Around 40 local chefs all attend the event and cook up bacon inspired dishes and snacks for visitors. Think bacon tacos, bacon burgers, bacon shrimp and even bacon ice-cream. Bluntly put, if you're not a fan of bacon, you better stay at home.
Yet despite it taking centre stage at the event, bacon isn't the only thing people attend this festival for. With so much salty meat leaving visitors with thirsty mouths, we're guessing you'll be needing a few drinks. Luckily this festival is almost as much about the beer as it is about the bacon and around 40 breweries turn out to provide a number of locally crafted beers and beverages.
Tickets to the event are usually priced around $40 and that price includes unlimited food samples and (usually) around 24 drink tastings. Another thing to note is that this is an adult-only event so if you're under 21 you'll have to make do with cooking your bacon from the comfort of your own kitchen. It might not be bacon heaven, but bacon is bacon right?
- Get there: Parking is advised against, so consider taking a taxi or using other public transport instead.
- Stay: The official website suggests the DoubleTree by Hilton in Tucson's Reid Park, but we reckon you'll be fine staying anywhere around the Reid Park area.
