If you're left hungry after visiting the H Street festival you're doing something wrong.
Located on H Street between 4th and 14th streets, the H Street Festival runs from midday until 7pm and will be going into its 12th year in 2017. With an abundance of food and drink and a buzzing festival vibe it's no wonder as many as 200,000 people visit every year. This year's festival is set to be the biggest and best yet with over 500 artists performing on 14 stages.
It's not only vendors and their food tents and beer gardens that join in on the fun either. Many restaurants and eateries down H Street put on their own specials for festivalgoers. Then there's the Heritage Trail commemorating the history of the H Street NE corridor.
Art and music are two of the main attractions (aside from the food) on H Street. From weird and wonderful parades of heavily decorated 'art cars' to local acts and DJs rocking stages up and down the street, there's certainly a lot to be a part of. For the brave among us, there's also an infamous Karaoke Stage located on 9th and H Street.
We're sure you'll have a hunky dory time down on H Street with the bustling crowds of excited Washingtonians. And one thing's for sure, you'll want to take this one on an empty stomach.
- Get there: There are streetcar stops along much of H Street NE, and Union Station is the closest underground stop.
- Stay: We suggest booking accommodation in the area as it is well-linked and near to other attractions.
